The New Cure for Nail Fungus

Fungal toenails were a condition in desperate need of a new cure. For decades, the best treatment available was a combination of topical antifungals (creams and sprays) attacking the fungus from above, while oral medications attacked from within. However, this approach left a lot to be desired. For starters, it just wasn’t that effective, failing completely for many patients. It was almost impossible for the topical medications to actually get through the nail in the first place, and beyond that, the oral medications could produce bad side effects, including liver damage. In more recent years, many foot doctors have been introducing laser treatments into their office. Preliminary evidence has shown some successes (and many doctors swear by them), and it’s much safer than traditional treatment.

However, laser is rarely covered by insurance, and the out-of-pocket costs can be downright unaffordable for many patients. Enter Clearanail and its controlled micro penetration technology. Dr. Jason Wilks is the first podiatrist in Oregon to bring this device to his patients, and our team is already seeing great results. The device creates a series of tiny holes in the nail plate—at 0.4mm in diameter, they’re no thicker than four human hairs. The computer-controlled needle features a revolutionary automatic failsafe that prevents it from damaging the sensitive skin and soft tissues underneath the nail, meaning there’s no blood or pain. These microscopic holes allow topical antifungal sprays to penetrate the protective shell of the nail and reach the fungus underneath, destroying it directly. We love this new system because it produces much better results for our patients. It’s far safer and more effective than traditional treatments, with faster results (visible improvement often begins after just a few weeks), and does so at a significantly lower price point than laser therapy. Many of our patients have affordable access to a real cure for their toenail fungus for the first time ever, and we couldn’t be happier about providing it to them!
