Do You Have Plantar Fasciitis?

Foot pain is a common occurrence, feet are always working, whether we are running, walking or just standing. Since we rely on our feet so much, when they are in pain, it can be debilitating for our productivity. With those ligaments and muscles constantly being overworked throughout our busy days, sometimes pain is inevitable. Although when the pain becomes chronic and overbearing it can be the result of something called Plantar Fasciitis. At Wilks Advanced Foot Care located in Roseburg, OR, Dr. Jason Wilks sees many patients who come to us with this kind of pain.

What is Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel and foot pain. There is a thick band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes and it runs across the bottom of your foot. Called the plantar fascia. This tissue becomes inflamed causing the pain. The most common reason for this inflammation to occur is due to a repetitive stress injury, like excessive running, walking and jumping, to the ligament of the sole, leading to foot pain.

How To Treat Plantar Fasciitis

The main method of treatment involves a decrease in the inflammation in the area. The goal is to stop plantar fasciitis from becoming chronic because when that happens it can become plantar fasciosis which is when the plantar fascia becomes scarred due to low blood supply and increased stress.
